Monsoon Chaos: Roads Turn into Rivers Across Gujarat and UP | ABP NEWS
As monsoon intensifies, several parts of India are facing severe waterlogging and urban flooding. From Gujarat in the west to Uttar Pradesh in the north, the situation has become grim, with visuals of submerged streets and disrupted lives pouring in from multiple states. Surat, Gujarat’s diamond city, has been worst hit in the last 24 hours. Heavy rainfall led to knee-deep water on roads and inside textile markets, restaurants, and shops. One restaurant saw customers trapped inside as floodwater entered the premises. Shopkeepers reported damage worth crores as their merchandise was soaked. In Walsad, Gujarat, overflowing streams and strong water currents washed away stair railings and inundated housing societies. An autorickshaw was seen stranded, with the driver pushing it through waist-high water. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, especially in Shamli, just an hour of rain turned roads into rivers. Narrow alleys and main roads were submerged alike. Locals struggled to move around as drain water entered homes and shops, making daily life miserable. With forecasts warning of heavier rain in the coming hours, local administrations have issued alerts. People living near riverbanks, including around the swollen Godavari River, have been advised to move to safer areas.
