Punjab women’s team reach Hockey Masters Cup semi-finals with 13-0 win
The Punjab Women’s Hockey Team has secured a place in the semi-finals of the first-ever Hockey India Masters Cup with a commanding 13-0 victory over Maharashtra in the quarter-finals. The tournament is currently being held at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai.
Competing in the 35+ age category, the Punjab team displayed outstanding form and teamwork. Captain Amandeep Kaur led from the front with a stellar performance, scoring five goals. Baljit Kaur followed closely, netting four goals. The remaining goals were scored by Arun Bala, Sangeet Minj, Jaspreet Kaur and Saniya Sharma, each contributing one goal.
The dominant performance by the Punjab side secured their place in the semi-finals, where they will face a strong Haryana team. The semi-finals are scheduled to be held on Thursday morning.
Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli and General Secretary Amrik Singh Powar congratulated the team on their emphatic win. They praised the players’ dedication and skill, noting that their performance is a proud moment for Punjab. “The women have shown exceptional talent and commitment. Their success in this national-level tournament reflects the strength of hockey in Punjab,” the officials said. With their confidence high and momentum strong, the Punjab Women’s Team is now eyeing a place in the final, aiming to bring the Masters Cup home.
