Sham Lal announces Rs 15 lakh annual grant for Bar Association Jammu

JAMMU, June 25: Describing advocates as the “backbone of democracy” and a vital pillar of the justice system, MLA Jammu North Sham Lal Sharma today announced an annual allocation of Rs 15 lakh from his MLA fund to the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA), Jammu. He said the amount will be dedicated to infrastructure development and welfare initiatives for advocates.
The announcement was made during a function organized by the Bar Association at the High Court Complex, Janipur. The event saw a large gathering of senior and young advocates, along with prominent guests.
Sharma emphasized that bar associations play a critical role in upholding the rule of law and facilitating access to justice. “Supporting advocates is essential to strengthening democracy,” he stated.
State awardee Mahant Rohit Shastri, president of Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, also attended the event and lauded the legal community as the voice of society. He stressed the need for consistent support for the legal fraternity’s welfare.
President of JKHCBA, K Nirmal Kotwal, along with vice president Baldev Singh, general secretary Pradeep Majotra, joint secretary Anshu Mahajan and treasurer Rahul Aggarwal, expressed gratitude to the MLA for his generous contribution.
The initiative, according to the legal community, is a step forward in addressing infrastructure gaps and enhancing working conditions for advocates.
