A terrifying rescue unfolded in Jammu where a man was trapped in the fierce current of the Tawi River. Attempting to cross for a routine chore, he was caught off-guard by a sudden surge of water. For over 90 minutes, he clung to a rope tied to a bridge pillar, battling for his life as onlookers watched helplessly. Eventually, an SDRF team carried out a high-risk operation and rescued him, earning applause from the gathered crowd. Meanwhile, torrential rains have caused widespread disruption across India. The IMD has issued red alerts for 11 states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Madhya Maharashtra. Cities like Delhi saw knee-deep water on roads after just brief showers, with children playing in flooded streets and residents expressing frustration. In Uttarakhand’s Haldwani, a car plunged into a swollen canal and overturned, intensifying local panic.
