Madhya Pradesh Police To Launch Anti-Drug Website, Complaint Number Today

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): To mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, the Madhya Pradesh Police is set to launch a dedicated website to provide information on drug abuse and a mobile number for people to report drug-related crimes. Officials made the announcement on Wednesday, emphasising the urgent need for public participation in combating drug addiction and trafficking.

As per a national survey, around 7.61% of the country’s population between 18 and 75 years use drugs in various forms, including cannabis, opium, sedatives, inhalants, cocaine, amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS) and hallucinogens. Besides, nearly 17% of the population is addicted to liquor, highlighting a widespread substance abuse problem.

Additional Director General (Narcotics) KP Venkateswara Rao said the website—www.mppolicenarcotics.in—will go live on Thursday. The portal will host detailed content on drug abuse prevention, assessment of the scale of addiction, preventive strategies, treatment and rehabilitation options, and general awareness resources. Citizens will also be allowed to upload their work or content on the site, although all submissions will be authenticated before being published.

To complement the website, a new mobile number—7049100785—is also being launched. People can use it to report drug-related crimes along with evidence, if they wish to initiate legal action.
