Srinagar Vande Bharat Express: On June 6 this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express. With this, the decades-old dream of connecting the valley by rail was fulfilled. Ever since Vande Bharat started on this route, there has been a scramble for tickets. If you are also planning to travel by Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat, then the passengers traveling by it are going to get a special experience of food and drink. IRCTC has confirmed that they will start serving authentic Kashmiri vegetarian food to the passengers from the second week of July.
Travel time reduced to two to three hours
IRCTC Additional General Manager Anand Kumar Jha gave information about this in a special conversation. He said that the newly started Vande Bharat train will connect Katra and Srinagar. This has reduced the travel time by two to three hours. An IRCTC official told about the food items that will be served to the passengers in the train. He said that passengers will get ambal kaddu, babru and Jammu paratha for breakfast. Passengers will be able to taste Jammu Rajma, Kashmiri Dum Aloo and Paneer Chaman for lunch.
Local menu prepared to attract passengers
Ambal Pumpkin is a part of Dogra cuisine. It is a sweet and sour pumpkin vegetable, which is specially prepared during weddings. Trains run six days a week except Wednesday
Vande Bharat running between Srinagar and Katra will run two trains six days a week (except Wednesday) via Banihal. This train will leave Srinagar at 8 am, reach Banihal at 9:02 am and reach Katra at 10:58 am. The train will depart from Katra at 2:55 pm and reach Srinagar at 5:53 pm. The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express is a fully electric train. It has been built with such capacity that it can run even in freezing temperatures up to minus 20 degrees Celsius (-20°C).
Its windshield (front glass) has a heating system, which gives better visibility by removing snow and fog. Apart from this, it also has an air-dryer system and a 5 kVA transformer. The train has many special facilities to make the journey comfortable and safe. It has AC coaches, automatic plug doors, CCTV cameras and mobile charging points. Even during extreme cold, the special technical heating system maintains a continuous flow of hot air through the vacuum system, so that the temperature inside remains right.
