Tamil Actor Krishna Arrested In Chennai After Being Grilled For 17 Hours In Drugs Case

Tamil actor Krishna, known for films like Veera, Maari 2, and others, was arrested by the Chennai Police on Thursday in connection to a major drugs case. This comes days after actor Srikanth was arrested in connection to the same drugs case.

Krishna, who had gone incommunicado after his name cropped up in the drugs case, was nabbed by the police on Wednesday, post which he was detained for questioning. After interrogating him for 17 hours, the actor was arrested.

Along with Krishna, alleged drug peddler Kevin was also arrested in the case.

Actor Srikanth arrested in drugs case

Krishna's name came up in the investigation days after actor Srikanth was arrested in Chennai on June 23. He has been sent to judicial custody until July 7, 2025.

Srikanth has been reportedly accused of buying cocaine worth Rs 12,000. After he was arrested and his samples were sent for medical examination, he tested positive for having consumed illegal narcotics.

What is the pub brawl case that led to drugs investigation?

It all began after T Prasad, a member of the AIADMK IT wing, got arrested in connection with a brawl at a private bar in Nungambakkam. His arrest opened a can of worms as he was reportedly found to have supplied banned narcotics, including cocaine, to Srikanth.

Reports suggest that Srikanth purchased the cocaine from Prasad during a party linked to the film Theekirai. Notably, the film is co-produced by Prasad, with Srikanth playing the lead role.

The Chennai Police has now launched an investigation to reach the root of the drugs case, and check if more high-profile names from the Tamil film industry were involved in the menace.
