Breaking News: Cloudburst in Dharamshala Triggers Deadly Flash Flood, 5 Dead, 3 Missing | ABP NEWS
A devastating cloudburst struck Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, claiming the lives of five people and leaving three others missing. The incident occurred near a private thermal hydro power project where several workers were stationed. The powerful flash flood swept away heavy machinery and destroyed a road leading to the power plant, making rescue operations extremely difficult. The affected area, identified as Manu Khad, experienced a sudden surge of water after the cloudburst. Massive boulders and debris rushed downhill, destroying infrastructure and trapping laborers. One person managed to escape and spent the entire night hiding in the forest. Rescuers from the NDRF and Himachal’s State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are conducting operations on foot, as no machinery can be transported to the site due to road damage. Teams are trekking 8 kilometers on foot with equipment to search for the missing. So far, five bodies have been recovered, while three individuals remain unaccounted for. Families of missing victims have also gathered near the site, anxiously awaiting news. The terrain remains dangerous, and the lack of access is severely hampering rescue efforts. Authorities continue to appeal to the public to stay away from vulnerable areas as rescue teams push forward under challenging conditions.
