Etawah Caste Row: Brahmin Sabha Cancels Protest Amid Rising Tensions, Saints and Politicians React | ABP NEWS
In the ongoing caste conflict in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district, the Brahmin Mahasabha has postponed its planned protest in Dadarpur village. The situation had turned volatile after two kathavachaks were assaulted for allegedly concealing their caste identities. The incident triggered massive demonstrations by Yadav community groups, followed by calls for counter-protests from Brahmin organizations. Heavy police deployment continues in the village, with foot marches and monitoring to prevent escalation. Authorities detained 19 individuals linked to prior protests, and FIRs have been lodged against many. Reports indicate that political leaders are now attempting to manage the situation ahead of upcoming elections. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has already met the assaulted kathavachaks, while Brahmin leaders are now being courted by political groups. Prominent saints have condemned the violence. Shankaracharya Swami Ashranand blamed divisive politics for inflaming caste tensions, while Devkinandan Thakur labeled the act of cutting a religious figure’s hair as a deep insult to Sanatan Dharma. As tensions simmer, the police are on high alert, with political and religious voices calling for restraint and justice.
