BRIMS Faculty & Staff Visit SP-TBI to Strengthen Innovation Ecosystem

In a significant step toward fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, Dr. V. N. Bedekar Institute of Management Studies (DR VN BRIMS) organized an institutional visit to the Sardar Patel Technology Business Incubator (SP-TBI), located in Bhavan’s Campus, Munshi Nagar, Andheri (West), Mumbai.

A total of 25 faculty members and non-teaching staff from BRIMS participated in this insightful visit, aimed at understanding the incubation process, exposure to startup support infrastructure, and exploring opportunities to strengthen innovation initiatives at the institute level.

The visit was coordinated and executed by Abhishek Gupta, Community Manager at SP-TBI, who facilitated the team through a well-structured agenda. The key components of the visit included:

• Tour of SP-TBI Facilities: Participants were introduced to the various incubation spaces, co-working areas, and collaborative environments designed to nurture start-ups across domains.

• Visit to Prayas Shala (Prototyping Lab Facility): The team explored the state-of-the-art prototyping lab, gaining insights into how early-stage entrepreneurs and innovators transform their ideas into working models with the help of in-house equipment and expert guidance.

• SP-TBI Orientation & Interactive Q&A Session: The session provided a comprehensive overview of SP-TBI’s vision, incubation model, funding opportunities, mentorship support, and successful startup journeys. A lively Q&A session followed, where faculty and staff members engaged in meaningful discussions around best practices and collaborative possibilities.

Speaking about the visit, Dr. Nitin Joshi, Director- DR VN BRIMS, shared, “The visit to SP-TBI was highly enriching. It not only enhanced our understanding of how business incubator’s function but also inspired us to further develop and expand the innovation ecosystem within our own institution. We sincerely thank Abhishek Gupta and the SP-TBI team for their warm hospitality and insightful engagement.”

The visit marks an important milestone in BRIMS' journey toward fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among faculty, staff, and students, and opens avenues for future collaborations with leading incubators like SP-TBI.
