Amazon’s cloud unit loses key executive who led development of company’s AI models

Vasi Philomin, a key vice president, has left Amazon Web Services. He oversaw generative AI development and the Bedrock service. Rajesh Sheth will assume some of Philomin's responsibilities. This exit occurs as Amazon increases its AI efforts. Amazon has invested heavily in AI startup Anthropic. They are integrating Anthropic's Claude software. Amazon is also expanding its own AI model portfolio.
