How Vande Bharat started?
The Indian Railways network is one of the most extensive rail networks in the world. Although the Indian Railways already had high-speed premium trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express, the need for a semi-high speed train was felt to provide modern facilities and high-speed experience to the passengers. In such a situation, in the year 2017, the Railways planned to develop semi-high-speed trains. For this, instead of signing an agreement with a foreign company, emphasis was laid on indigenous technology and the responsibility was given to Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF).
