Drone command now

Sir,
The compelling case for a dedicated Drone Command in India, as highlighted in your article, cannot be overstated. With hostile neighbors like China and Pakistan actively deploying drones for surveillance and strikes, India’s fragmented and service-specific drone capabilities leave critical gaps in our defense posture.
Ukraine’s success with low-cost FPV drones against Russia’s strategic assets shows that unmanned warfare has decisively shifted the balance of modern combat. India must immediately invest in an integrated Indian Unmanned Systems Command (IN-USC) to unify doctrine, procurement, and offensive as well as defensive drone operations. A tri-service Drone Command, supported by indigenous production and a specialized Drone Warfare Academy, is essential to keep pace with evolving threats. Delaying this will be strategically negligent. India must not just adapt to drone warfare—it must lead it.
