Resolve crisis, former student leaders urge govt
Four former presidents of students’ unions have urged the government to take cognisance of the “criminal and hostile" attitude of the Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) administration towards the ongoing students’ movement.
In a joint statement today, they said the news of the HAU administration locking the girls’ hostel and stopping the food and water supply to the inmates is disturbing. “Such acts cannot be tolerated in any civilised society," they stated.

Sheokand demanded that the government address the concerns of the students promptly.
They said it was unfortunate that the students had been forced to protest for such demands which could have been resolved through talks. “The biggest obstacle in this has been the arrogant and authoritarian behaviour of the Vice-Chancellor and other officials of the university," they alleged.
