Govt school students clearing NEET honoured

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today said that the state government was taking out-of-the-box ideas to give a boost to the education sector in the state.Speaking at a felicitation event for the students clearing the NEET exam, he said in the past more than three years, a paradigm shift had taken place in the education sector. He said revolutionary steps had given a major fillip to this sector due to which students were excelling in every sphere these days.

Mann said this was a red letter day, as 509 students of government schools had cracked the coveted NEET exam.

He said these students would become role models for the entire society.

The CM said education, health, infrastructure, industry, sports, jobs, along with weeding out the menace of drugs, were the key areas of concern for the state government.

Mann said in a paradigm shift, parent teacher meetings (PTMs) were organised in the government schools, adding that this was a regular practice in private schools, but missing in government schools. The state government is constructing public libraries to inculcate reading habits among the students, adding that these libraries had been equipped with high-end facilities like Wi-Fi, solar power digital analogs and other facilities.

He said the state government had made concerted efforts for empowering women in the state. In this direction, seven women officers had been appointed as Deputy Commissioners and eight women officers Senior Superintendents of Police.

Meanwhile, many students of government schools, during their interaction with the CM, thanked the state government for the logistical and infrastructural support to crack the coveted NEET exam.
