ICAI J&K Branch hosts MSME Day Mahotsav

JAMMU, June 27: The Jammu & Kashmir Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized the MSME Day Mahotsav today at ICAI Bhawan, Canal Road, Jammu, with the aim of celebrating and empowering the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, the backbone of India’s economic growth.
The event was graced by Satish Sharma, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports and ARI & Trainings Departments, as the chief guest. The guest of honour was Naser Ali, Joint Director (Jammu), Industries & Commerce Department.
Varsha Bansal, senior Vice Chairperson, FICCI FLO (JKL Chapter), joined as event partner.
CA Sourav Pargal, Chairman of the J&K Branch of ICAI, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of MSMEs in employment generation and inclusive growth. He highlighted the need for continued collaboration between professionals, government bodies, and the business community.
The proceedings of the Mahotsav were seamlessly moderated by CA Jatin Malhotra, secretary of the Branch.
The event featured expert knowledge sessions, including an insightful address by CA Vishal Thappa, MSME Consultant, on emerging opportunities, financial access, and the strategic role Chartered Accountants can play in supporting the MSME sector.
A special address was delivered by Veenu Koul, Assistant Director, MSME Jammu, who elaborated on Central Government initiatives and schemes for small businesses.
Adding to the vibrancy of the event, various institutions and stakeholders including the MSME Department, District Industries Centre (DIC), banks, and incubation centres set up informative stalls to educate attendees about available schemes and services.
The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony followed by a formal vote of thanks by CA Amit Gupta, Vice Chairman of the Branch, who acknowledged the dignitaries, participants, and organizing team for their contributions.
The event was attended by CA members, students, industry representatives, and entrepreneurs, all of whom appreciated the initiative as an important step towards strengthening Jammu & Kashmir’s MSME ecosystem.
