In a tragic turn of events, Shefali Jariwala, best remembered for the iconic Kaanta Laga song and show Bigg Boss 13, passed away on Friday. According to reports, the actress-model died after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 42. Her sudden demise has left a deep void in the Indian entertainment industry.

The Rise of Shefali Jariwala after Kaanta Laga

Shefali Jariwala became an overnight sensation during the early 2000s after she starred in one of the biggest remix songs of the year Kaanta Laga. With her confident persona and bold appearance, she quickly bagged the title of “The Kaanta Laga Girl.” Following that, she signed her first film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra. Although she had a limited role, but that became an extent to her Bollywood film career.

In 2011, she starred in one more film- a 2011 Kannada release called Hudaguru. She even participated in two seasons of Nach Baliye as well as Boogie Woogie between 2008 and 2016. Shefali later made a striking appearance in Bigg Boss 13, and grabbed headlines for reuniting with her former partner and late actor Sidharth Shukla.

Shefali Jariwala’s failed marriage, illness and more

On the personal front, Shefali Jariwala married Harmeet Singh (Meet Bros) in 2004 when she was 22. The couple got divorced in 2009. Since 2014, she had been married to Parag Tyagi. The couple often shared glimpses of their life together, winning hearts with their adorable bond.

In a past interview, Shefali revealed that she was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 15. The fits and related challenges continued to hamper her work, leading her to prioritise her well-being over career. After years away from the entertainment industry, she made a comeback in 2024 with the TV show Shaitani Rasmein, in which she portrayed the role of Kapalika.
