Television actor and model Shefali Jariwala died in Mumbai in the late hours of Friday; she was 42 years old. A probe by Mumbai police is underway to ascertain the cause of her death.
Jariwala, a top contestant in popular television shows like Nach Baliye and Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 13, rose to prominence in 2002 with the massive popularity of "Kaanta Laga", a remix of an old Lata Mangeshkar song from the 1972 movie "Samadhi".
According to reports, Jariwala was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in suburban Mumbai by her husband and actor Parag Tyagi on Friday night. However, the on-duty doctor at the hospital declared her dead on arrival. Mumbai police have registered a case and are questioning the maid and other workers at Jariwala's residence.
While some reports suggest the TV actor died of cardiac arrest, Jariwala's kin is yet to make an official statement. A forensic team from Mumbai police visited Jariwala's residence and collected samples from the premises.
A senior Mumbai police officer told ANI, "Her body was found at her residence in Andheri area. Mumbai Police received information about this at 1 am. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. The cause of death is not yet clear."
Jariwala's sudden demise has shocked many in Bollywood. Singer Mika Singh said he is unable to fathom the news about his dearest friend Jariwala. "I'm deeply shocked, saddened, and feeling a heavy heart Our beloved star and my dearest friend @shefalijariwala has left us. Still can't believe it. You will always be remembered for your grace, smile, and spirit. Om Shanti," Singh wrote on social media.
