‘Will reveal true capabilities if...': Iran warns Trump after US Prez claims he saved Khamenei from ‘ignominious death’

Iran on Saturday told United States President Donald Trump to change his disrespectful tone against Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei if he genuinely wanted to sign a deal with the nation.

Iran's foreign minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, said they do not allow anybody else to decide its destiny, and they are aware of their worth and value of independence. "If President Trump is genuine about wanting a deal, he should put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran's Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, and stop hurting his millions of heartfelt followers," Araghchi said in a post on X.

The Iranian foreign minister said Tehran had shown its prowess during the recent conflict with Israel. "The great and powerful Iranian People, who showed the world that the Israeli regime had NO CHOICE but to RUN to "Daddy" to avoid being flattened by our Missiles, do not take kindly to threats and insults," the foreign minister said.

Araghchi warned Iran would not hesitate to reveal its true capabilities if the US president continued his tirade against it, "which will certainly end any delusion about the power of Iran."

Iran's sharp retort comes after Trump on Friday said he would not hesitate to bomb Iran again, and he "spared Khamenei's life" during the recent Iran-Israel conflict. Khamenei, in a televised victory speech, claimed Iran delivered "delivered a harsh slap to America’s face" and the US failed to achieve its goals in the war.

Reacting to Khamenei's comments through social media, Trump said, "His Country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life. I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH."

During a press conference in the White House on Friday Trump said he would consider bombing Iran again if Tehran is found enriching uranium to worrisome levels.

While Iran is not keen on restarting negotiations with the US, the Trump administration is engaging in backdoor talks with Iranian leaders, offering to lift sanctions and rebuild its nuclear facilities, to bring Tehran to the negotiation table. Trump has reportedly offered to ease sanctions and invest $20 to $30 billion in a civilian non-enrichment nuclear programme in Iran.
