Tata Harrier EV AWD Price: Worth The Extra Money Over The RWD?

Prices for the Harrier AWD with a dual motor have been revealed and it is Rs 28.9 lakh which is around Rs 1.5 lakh more than the top spec RWD. The Harrier AWD gets a dual motor layout with 313bhp and 504nm which means it has a 0-100 km/h time of just 6.3 seconds. That is more power than the 238bhp single motor that the RWD has.

This means that the RWD has less performance but crucially the Harrier EV AWD has more off-road capability as well which should be a considerable advantage. If looked at range then there is not much difference between the RWD and the AWD but the RWD is marginally more efficient but the real world will match for both with similar figures.

We think the AWD makes more sense in terms of added capabilities and enabling more traction plus better off-road ability which makes it a more go anywhere EV with good enough range to match. The RWD 75kwh battery pack version isn't slow at all but the AWD adds sports car like performance for not so much more money while being a highlight in the range.

The Harrier EV is one of the most accessible EVs with a dual motor and Tata.ev has kept is competitive by keeping it under 30 lakh. Tata hopes that a good chunk of the Harrier EV sales would come from this variant also given the pricing. While final judgement is awaited after testing both the variants, we think the AWD offers more for the price.
