WATCH: PM Modi Conferred ‘Dharma Chakravarti’ Title During Centenary Tribute To Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the prestigious title of ‘Dharma Chakravarti’ during the grand centenary celebrations marking the 100th birth anniversary of the revered Jain seer, Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj. The commemorative event was held at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital on Saturday morning.

The Prime Minister formally inaugurated the beginning of a year-long national homage being jointly organised by the Government of India and the Bhagwan Mahaveer Ahimsa Bharti Trust.

Who is Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj? 

Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj, who authored over 50 scholarly texts on Jain ethics, Prakrit literature, and classical Indian thought, was also instrumental in the rejuvenation of several historic Jain temples and the promotion of traditional education. His efforts significantly contributed to the preservation of Jain heritage and the revival of interest in ancient Indian languages.

The initiative seeks to honour the life, teachings, and immense contributions of Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj, who was known for his unwavering commitment to non-violence, spiritual reform, and the promotion of Jain philosophy.

The centenary programme is set to feature a diverse range of activities including cultural exhibitions, scholarly seminars, educational drives and interfaith dialogues across the country. The events aim to bring greater public awareness to Jain ideals and preserve India’s rich spiritual traditions.
