Bengaluru Division observes International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking with Awareness Campaign

On June 26, 2025, under the leadership of Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Bengaluru, the Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway conducted a comprehensive awareness campaign to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Organized in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) & Government Railway Police (GRP), the campaign aimed to educate passengers on the harmful effects of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking, while also promoting international cooperation to address these global concerns.

Key objectives of the campaign included:

•         Educating passengers on the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse.

•         Spreading awareness about the legal and health-related implications of drug trafficking.

•         Encouraging public participation and vigilance in the fight against drug-related issues.

To reinforce the message, all RPF and GRP personnel, along with other railway employees, took a solemn pledge reaffirming their commitment to building a safe and drug-free society.

Visually impactful placards and banners were displayed at prominent locations across the Division, highlighting important messages on drug abuse prevention and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

One of the key highlights of the campaign was a powerful Nukkad Natak (street play) staged by RPF personnel at the entrance of KSR Bengaluru Railway Station. The performance drew the attention of passengers and effectively conveyed the social, legal, and personal consequences of drug abuse in a thought-provoking way.

South Western Railway remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a drug-free environment and ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers and the public.
