Mumbai Tragedy: 30-Year-Old Man Dies After Tempo Rams Scooter On Hindmata Bridge In Parel; Driver Absconding
Mumbai: In a tragic road accident on June 27, a 30-year-old man lost his life after a tempo, overtaking from the wrong (left) side, rammed into a two-wheeler on the Hindmata Bridge in Parel. The tempo driver fled the scene after the collision, and the police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver.
As per the FIR filed by the Bhoiwada Police, the deceased, Vijay Santosh Yadav, was riding pillion on a Honda Activa (MH-03-EF-3440) with his friend Harsh Ramakant Yadav,21, a resident of Hari Om Nagar, Hiranandani, Powai. The two were headed to Lalbaug around 1:30 PM to purchase decorations for the upcoming Ganesh festival.
Around 2 PM, as they were crossing the Hindmata Bridge, a speeding tempo overtook them from the left — the wrong side — ramming into the scooter being ridden by Harsh. The impact threw Vijay onto the road while Harsh was dragged along with the vehicle.
Vijay sustained serious head injuries. Harsh attempted to seek help from passing vehicles to take Vijay to the hospital, but no one stopped for a long time. Eventually, a car driver offered help and rushed them to KEM Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared Vijay dead on arrival.
The Bhoiwada Police have registered a case based on Harsh’s statement under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. The search for the unidentified tempo driver is ongoing.
