Thane Anti-Extortion Cell Arrests 30-Year-Old Fruit Vendor For Possessing 2 Country-Made Revolvers In Kalyan; Remanded To Police Custody Until June 30

Kalyan: The Thane Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly possessing two country-made revolvers and a live cartridge in Kalyan on June 20. The accused has been identified as Sachin Gopi, alias Gokul Shinde, a fruit vendor and resident of Bandar Pada in Kalyan West.

Acting on a tip-off, Assistant Police Inspector Sunil Tarmale of the AEC formed a team and dispatched officers to Mohane Road near Roshan Kirana Store, where they conducted a search. During the operation, police recovered two country-made revolvers and one live cartridge, collectively valued at ₹1 lakh.

The accused was taken into custody, and an FIR was registered against him under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Preliminary investigations revealed that two previous criminal cases had already been registered against him at Khadakpada Police Station. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody until June 30.

Police are investigating the source of the weapons and the accused’s motive behind possessing them.
