Vehicle thief held in Panchkula, stolen two-wheelers recovered
The police have arrested an alleged vehicle thief and recovered four stolen two-wheelers from him. The accused, identified as Bilal, a resident of Mori Gate, Manimajra, was apprehended following a detailed investigation led by ACP Crime Arvind Kamboj and Inspector Nirmal Singh, incharge of Sector 19 Crime Branch.
Upon interrogation, and based on his disclosure, the police recovered three stolen scooters and one motorcycle. The accused was previously booked on May 15 under Section 303 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector 14 police station. The CCTV surveillance and other evidence helped lead police to his location.
The accused was produced before the court and remanded in police custody for one day.
A drug addict, he confessed to stealing vehicles in order to fund his addiction. He admitted to stealing three scooters and one bike from various locations in Sector 15. To avoid detection, he had hidden two scooters in bushes near Vikas Nagar naka, while the remaining scooter and motorcycle were concealed in secluded areas.
Acting swiftly on his disclosure, Crime Branch officer ASI Dhani Ram, with assistance from ASI Karamjeet Singh, ASI Sanjeev Kumar, and Home Guard Gagandeep Singh, raided the identified spots and recovered all four vehicles. Legal proceedings are underway to return them to their rightful owners.
“Efforts are ongoing to determine whether the accused is part of a larger organised vehicle theft ring or involved in other criminal activities. The investigation is progressing well, and we expect more revelations soon. The vigilance and prompt action of our team demonstrates Panchkula Police’s firm commitment to crime control,” the ACP said.
