Warning issued for many districts for next 24 hours
Several districts of the state are very likely to witness flashfloods in the next 24 hours as the state is expected to receive heavy spell of rain at isolated places as a result of orange weather warning that has been issued.
A moderate to high flashflood warning has been issued for Solan, Mandi, Sirmaur and Kangra districts for the next 24 hours, resulting in surface runoff and inundation at some fully saturated soils and low-lying areas. An orange weather warning has been issued for Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Solan and Sirmaur districts for June 29, resulting in heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated parts of these districts.
Similarly, a yellow weather warning has also been issued for Shimla, Mandi, Kullu and Chamba districts for June 29, resulting in heavy rain along with thunderstorms at isolated places. Orange and yellow weather warning has also been issued for several districts of the state for June 30.
As per the state’s meteorological department, light to moderate rain is very likely to continue at most places of the state till July 4 with few spells of heavy to very heavy rain on June 29 and 30. The maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to fall by 2°C to 3°C across the state in the next three to four days.
Meanwhile, the state witnessed heavy rain at isolated places and light to moderate rain in most parts of the state. The minimum temperatures were normal and between 12°C to 26°C across the state while the maximum temperatures were between the range of 25°C to 35°C, respectively.
Shimla, the state’s capital, recorded 23.4°C maximum temperature while prominent tourist destinations Dharamshala, Manali, Dalhousie and Kasauli recorded 28°C, 27.2°C, 23.1°C and 24.2°C, respectively.
The maximum temperature in Solan was 28°C, Mandi 31.4°C, Kangra 31.7°C, Chamba 31.2°C, Bilaspur 33.6°C, Una 33°C, Kalpa 25.7°C, Kufri 19.4°C, Nahan 27.8°C, Kasauli 27°C, Bhuntar 34.5°C, Sundernagar 32°C, Narkanda 19.5°C and Reckong Peo 29.9°C.
With 35.2°C maximum temperature, Una was the hottest place in the state while Keylong in tribal district Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest as it recorded 12.4°C minimum temperature.
