Newly elected Ludhiana West MLA takes oath, CM Mann skips event

Newly elected Ludhiana West legislator Sanjeev Arora was administered the oath of the office by Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Saturday.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was conspicuous by his absence at the ceremony. His presence at the ceremony in Vidhan Sabha had earlier been announced by the government.

AAP state president Aman Arora, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema and party’s Punjab affairs incharge Manish Sisodia were among those present on the occasion.

Arora was accompanied by his family and close friends, including industrialist Kamal Oswal. The ceremony ended in just five minutes.

Later in the afternoon, Arora called on the Chief Minister at his residence and met Mann and his wife Gurpreet Kaur Mann.

Mann congratulated the newly elected MLA and said he hoped that Arora would work for public welfare.

Speaking on the occasion, Arora said he would continue to work for the welfare of people. On being asked when he would be inducted in the state Cabinet, Arora said he believed in taking one step at a time and has first taken oath as an MLA today.
