Puri Rath Yatra 2025: Stampede Near Gundicha Temple Claims 3 Lives, Several Injured

Puri: A tragic stampede near Gundicha Temple at Saradhabali in Puri claimed three lives and injured several others on Sunday during the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri.

The incident occurred around 4:30 AM when darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra began, as per reports.

The injured were rushed to the district headquarters hospital, where three devotees were declared dead.

Relatives of the deceased blamed the tragedy on mismanagement, alleging a lack of assistance from the administration and police, the reports added.

On Saturday, health officials had reported crowd-related issues, with around 750 devotees hospitalized due to exhaustion and crowd pressure during the Rath Yatra.
