Cloudburst in Uttarkashi’s Barkot: 9 Labourers Missing, Char Dham Yatra Halted Due to Heavy Rainfall | ABP NEWS

A major natural disaster has struck Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, where a cloudburst occurred near Barkot, causing heavy destruction at a hotel construction site. At least 8 to 9 labourers working at the site near Silai Band are reported missing, triggering an ongoing rescue operation by NDRF and district authorities. The incident took place along the Yamunotri route, a path frequently used by pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra. Continuous heavy rainfall has worsened the situation across the state. In Chamoli’s Nandprayag area, a landslide disrupted the national highway, leaving many pilgrims stranded overnight. Roads have become treacherous with deep potholes, making travel extremely dangerous. As a precaution, the Uttarakhand administration has suspended the Char Dham Yatra for 24 hours, halting pilgrimages to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri. Authorities are closely monitoring the weather and ensuring the safety of travelers. Despite the deployment of emergency teams, the search for the missing workers continues amid difficult terrain and unpredictable weather. Visuals from the ground reveal the scale of damage and the urgent need for disaster preparedness in vulnerable hill regions.
