Breaking News: Badrinath Route Blocked, Manali Faces Landslides Amid Torrential Rains | ABP NEWS
Severe weather continues to disrupt normal life in parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. On the Badrinath highway near Nandprayag, a vehicle got trapped in a large pothole caused by incessant rain. JCB machines were deployed to rescue the vehicle, as similar conditions persist along the Char Dham route. Continuous rainfall has created landslide-prone areas and left several vehicles stranded. In Himachal’s Manali, the situation remains critical. The Beas River has taken a destructive turn, washing away parts of roads and five shops during a recent flash flood. BRO (Border Roads Organization) is now working to restore connectivity in upper regions. With an orange alert in place, areas like Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, and Kullu are experiencing heavy downpours. In Mandi, the gates of the Pandoh Dam have been opened, causing panic among downstream residents due to rising water levels. So far, 31 people have lost their lives in Himachal Pradesh, with damages estimated over ₹300 crore. Authorities have urged people to stay away from rivers and landslide zones. With the monsoon just beginning, officials fear the worst may be yet to come.
