Online fraud on rise in Udupi: Fraudster fakes NEFT transfer, dupes shop owner of Rs 10,000

Udupi residents are increasingly becoming victims of cybercrime. An ice cream outlet owner lost Rs 10,000 to a fraudster posing as a customer, while another individual lost Rs 30,000 attempting to purchase books online through a Telegram scam. Additionally, a woman was defrauded of Rs 26,000 in a hotel booking scam after trusting a fake QR code payment request.
