Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir Makes Aggressive Remarks Against India, Calls Kashmir 'Jugular Vein' (VIDEO)
New Delhi, June 29: Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has once again made hostile remarks against India, referring to Kashmir as the 'jugular vein' of Pakistan. Speaking at an event held at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi on Saturday (June 28), Munir warned that Pakistan would give a decisive response if India carries out any military action in the future.
In his speech, Munir claimed that Pakistan promotes regional peace and stability, and that it has responded to India’s so-called "unprovoked aggression" with restraint and maturity. He added that Pakistan has always respected international norms and will continue to speak for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in line with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
General Munir once again described Kashmir as Pakistan’s jugular vein, a phrase frequently used by Pakistan’s military leadership. “Kashmir is our jugular vein and will always remain so. We will never forget it,” he said.
Background: Rising Tensions After Pahalgam Attack
Munir’s remarks come at a time of increased tension between India and Pakistan. Recently, 26 Indian tourists were brutally killed in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, in an attack allegedly carried out by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists. The incident shocked the entire nation and led to a strong response from India.
Following the attack, India announced a review of the Indus Waters Treaty, increased diplomatic pressure and launched "Operation Sindoor", targeting terror camps inside Pakistan.
In his address, Munir accused India of deliberately creating tensions during Pakistan’s final phase of operations against terrorism. He claimed that India’s actions were meant to destabilise Pakistan.
However, Pakistan itself has often been accused of supporting terrorism and promoting cross-border infiltration into Indian territory. India has repeatedly responded to such threats with strong measures and has made it clear that it will not tolerate terrorism from across the border.
India has warned Pakistan several times in the past that cross-border terrorism must end. After Operation Sindoor, India made it clear that it will take firm action against any terror base and no terrorist hideout will be considered safe anymore.
