IAEA shares disturbing information about Iran’s enriched uranium, says it has highly…, very close to…
New Delhi: Despite the attacks by America and Israel, Iran’s nuclear programme has not been completely destroyed. This big revelation has been made by Rafael Grossi, the head of the United Nations nuclear monitoring agency IAEA. He says that Iran can resume uranium enrichment in a few months, that is, it is very close to making a nuclear bomb. He claims that Iran’s technical and industrial capabilities are still intact.
This statement directly challenges the claim of US President Donald Trump, in which he said that America had “completely destroyed” Iran’s nuclear bases and “pushed the country back decades”.
Why is IAEA’s warning disturbing?
In an interview with CBS News, IAEA chief Grossi said, “Some bases have been damaged, but the entire structure is still standing. If Iran wants, it can restart the centrifuges and produce enriched uranium in a few months. Iran is a country with highly developed nuclear technology. It has not only facilities, but also knowledge and industrial infrastructure.”
Where is the enriched uranium?
A few days ago, the IAEA had also expressed apprehension that Iran may have transferred the 408.6 kg (about 900 pounds) of enriched uranium it had before the US attacks. This uranium is enriched up to 60%, which is slightly below the level of making weapons, but more than 9 nuclear bombs can be made from it.
Iran bars IAEA
Immediately after the ceasefire with Israel, Iran passed a resolution in its parliament and announced to break ties with IAEA. Iran has rejected the IAEA chief’s demand to investigate Fordo and other nuclear sites. Grossi says, “We do not know where that enriched uranium is now. Maybe some part has been destroyed and some has been saved. Iran will have to answer, but it is not cooperating at the moment.”
What is Donald Trump’s warning?
On the other hand, Trump has once again warned Iran and its supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He said, “I knew where he was hiding. I saved him from dying, but this will not happen next time.” Trump revealed that he had also vetoed Israel’s plan to kill Khamenei. But now he said in clear words, “If needed, Iran will be attacked again – absolutely, without any questions.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X on Saturday, June 28 morning, saying, “If President Trump really wants a nuclear deal, he must stop using disrespectful language against our supreme leader.”
