Threat to blow up 15 airports including Gorakhpur before President’s visit, administration on high alert

New Delhi: There was a stir on Sunday, June 29 due to the information of bombs being present at 15 airports of the country including Gorakhpur. Just a day before the President’s programme, Gorakhpur police also became alert due to such information. Along with the airport office, every plane was checked. During this, the passengers were gathered at one place. After the information was received at 10.18 am, the investigation was done and after getting clearance of no bomb at 4 pm, the planes were sent. Police has registered a case on the complaint of the airport director.

Why Gorakhpur airport stood out?

According to the information, there was a stir on Sunday after receiving information of bombs being present at 15 airports across the country. Gorakhpur airport was also included in this list. The information of bomb blast was sent via email at 10:18 am. Due to holiday, the security officer of Gorakhpur airport noticed this email at 1 pm, after which the bomb disposal squad, SSF, Indian Air Force and AIIMS police station were alerted in a hurry. After an hour of search, when no suspicious object was found, the officials heaved a sigh of relief. Airport Director RK Parashar has lodged a complaint in AIIMS police station considering the seriousness of the matter. It has been told in the complaint that a threatening mail has been received to blow up 15 airports including Gorakhpur, which appears to have been sent by mischievous elements.

Kanpur airport too received bomb threat

Kanpur airport was also threatened with a bomb. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployed for the security of the airport located at Chakeri received a threatening mail. Airport Authority and CISF officers became alert. As soon as the message was broadcast, the phones of the officers from the Ministry of Civil Aviation started ringing. When the Mumbai flight left in the evening, an intensive search operation was carried out from the runway to the airport. A message of extra alertness was sent to the security forces at every step.

These airports were targets of bomb threats

In this mail, information was given about bombs in bags inside Guwahati, Gwalior, Hubli, Imphal, Indore, Jabalpur, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Jorhat, Kanpur, Khajuraho, Mangaluru and Mysore airports including Gorakhpur. In this case, SP City Abhinav Tyagi said that a case has been registered in AIIMS police station on the basis of the email ID. Investigation is being done with the help of cyber experts. Strict action will be taken against the person giving fake information.
