UDHAMPUR, June 29: Aggrieved over alleged inaction of Revenue officials in processing and disbursing compensation, rightful owners of land today impressed upon the Government for early action.
Aggrieved people from Udhampur, Rehmbal, Garhi, Jib, Khatyar assembled at Shiv Temple Rehambal and urged the Government, especially the Revenue Department to disburse compensation with immediate action.
Speakers on the occasion said that the land owners and the farmers have been continuing their struggle for the last more than 70 years while on the other hand, the inefficiency of revenue officials in processing and disbursing compensation to rightful owners has become a matter of serious public concern.
“Numerous landowners, whose properties have been acquired for public purposes, are struggling to secure their dues despite the Government’s clear policies and provisions for compensation,” they said and alleged that the compensation process, a crucial aspect of ensuring fairness in land acquisition and public projects, has been plagued by bureaucratic inefficiencies, lack of transparency, and neglect by the officials.
“This delay not only jeopardizes the livelihoods of those awaiting their rightful payments but also affects the progress of developmental initiatives that rely on smooth land acquisition,” they said and demanded a comprehensive audit of pending compensation cases besides fixing accountability of the officials concerned.
