Jalandhar food safety team collects 7 samples during inspection drive

In a continued effort to curb food adulteration, the food safety team of Jalandhar conducted inspections across various areas of the city, collecting seven food samples for further analysis. The inspection drive was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration, Dilraj Singh.

Led by Assistant Commissioner of Food, Harjot Pal Singh, the team covered the Mithu Basti and Basti Sheikh Road areas. During the drive, samples of various consumables—including edible oils, ghee, tea leaves, and petha sweets—were collected. These samples have been sent for laboratory testing to check for quality and possible adulteration.

Apart from sample collection, food vendors were educated about the importance of obtaining a valid license under the Food Safety Act, depending on their annual turnover. The team stressed the legal obligation and health importance of maintaining hygiene and quality standards in all food-related businesses.

Singh stated that this initiative is part of an ongoing campaign to ensure the availability of safe and high-quality food products for Jalandhar residents. He also assured that such inspection drives will continue in the future to monitor food safety compliance across the city.

The authorities have reiterated their commitment to safeguarding public health and warned of strict action against violators found selling substandard or adulterated food items.
