Indian Railways News: Aadhaar OTP for Tatkal, ATM charges, EPFO deadline & More: Check major money changes from July 2025 here
New Delhi: The month of July is set to bring a slew of key financial and service-related changes that promise to affect the bank customers, train travelers and EPF members. Major banks such as Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and EPFO have revised their rules related to ATM fees, service charges, and UAN activation deadlines. Indian Railways, on the other hand, has brought in Aadhaar-based authentication as a mandatory requirement for booking Tatkal train tickets online, with stricter rules rolling out in phases throughout the month.
Axis Bank tariff changes in July 2025
- Starting July 1, 2025, the fee for financial transactions (such as cash withdrawals or balance inquiries) conducted at Axis or non-Axis ATMs beyond the free transaction limit will increase.
- In a major move, the Axis Bank has changed the fees it charges for savings and trust accounts.
- The new fees will start to apply on July 1, 2025.
- The bank as revised fee for ATM transactions that exceed the free limit at both Axis and non-Axis ATMs.
- It is important to note that this change will effect a large number of account holders, including those with savings, NRI, and Trust Accounts, as well as some Priority and Burgundy category customers.
- Existing Fee: Rs 21 per transaction
- Revised Fee: Rs 23 per transaction
Aadhaar authentication for online Tatkal train bookings
- Passengers booking Tatkal train tickets via IRCTC official website or mobile app will be required to complete Aadhaar-based authentication starting July 1, 2025.
- Only users whose Aadhaar numbers are verified will be allowed to book Tatkal tickets online.
- Aadhaar-based OTP authentication will become mandatory for Tatkal bookings made online post 15th July 2025.
- Tatkal tickets purchased through authorized agents and at computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters will need an OTP authentication
- The OTP will be sent to the user’s mobile number at the time of booking. This will be effective from July 15, 2025.
- Indian Railways has introduced a restriction on authorised ticketing agents.
- Starting soon, these agents will not be allowed to book Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window on the day the Tatkal quota opens.
- For AC classes, agents cannot book Tatkal tickets between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM.
- For non-AC classes, the restriction applies from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM
ICICI Bank revised service charges
ICICI Bank has updated its service charges for select transactions, effective July 1, 2025. Customers will see revised fees across various banking services, including demand drafts, ATM usage at non-ICICI Bank ATMs in metro and non-metro areas, cash deposits and withdrawals, and debit card-related services.
