Himachal Pradesh Rains: 5-Storey Building Collapses Like A Stack Of Cards In Shimla - Horrifying Visuals Surface

Shimla: Heavy rains continue to lash Shimla and other parts of Himachal Pradesh. A video of a five-storey building collapsing in Mathu Colony in Shimla has surfaced. The owner, Anjana Verma, said that they had evacuated the building, Raj Niwas, last night due to incessant rains and landslides. The incident took place during the wee hours of Monday and no loss of life neither any injuries were reported in the collapse. The viral video shows, the building’s green-coloured roof giving way, with debris falling rapidly as the entire structure falls within seconds.

Reportedly, the building suffered cracks due to a nearby four-lane road construction. Heavy machinery and deep excavation near the site possibly caused shifts in soil and increased pressure on adjacent structures.

Officials have sealed the area and have started an inspection of nearby structures to ensure there are no further risks. Engineers and disaster response teams are currently on-site, assessing damage and reviewing potential risks.

A travel advisory has been issued urging people to avoid commuting on the Chandigarh-Manali four-lane highway, which remains vulnerable to landslides and blockages.
