Majithia taken to Himachal Pradesh to collect evidence

Vigilance Bureau officials on Monday took SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia to several locations in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh’s Mashobra to collect evidence in the disproportionate assets case registered against him.

Majithia, who was arrested from his Amritsar home on June 25, was earlier sent to seven-day Vigilance remand by a Mohali court. His remand ends on July 2 when he will be produced in the court again.

Meanwhile, Amritsar-based politician Manjinder Bittu Aulakh and businessman Jagjit Chahal, both booked in 2013 drug cases, recorded their statements in the Vigilance Bureau headquarters this morning.

Jagjeet Chahal said, “Five-six specialinvestigation teams have been constituted since 2013 but no one investigated the case. The government is doing drama.”

Bittu Aulkah said, “We were asked about financial dealings and shared properties with Majithia. We gave our reply.”

“We demanded a thorough investigation of police officer Hardyal Mann’s role in the case. His assets and properties should be investigated. Had the government probed his role, many things would have become clear,” he added.
