NOCs to commercial establishments: MHA withdraws sanction granted to Delhi Police chief
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday notified the withdrawal of sanction earlier granted to the Delhi Police Commissioner for issuing permissions or no-objection certificates (NOCs) to several types of commercial establishments.
The move follows a directive issued by Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena earlier this month, which repeals licensing regulations under Section 28(1) of the Delhi Police Act, 1978, for seven specific trades. These include hotels, motels, guest houses, restaurants and eateries, discotheques, swimming pools, video game parlours, amusement parks and auditoriums.
With this decision, such establishments will no longer be required to seek clearances or NOCs from the Delhi Police to operate, significantly cutting down bureaucratic red tape and streamlining the licensing process.
