Govt schools to reopen with ‘Fun Day’ celebrations
As government schools across Ludhiana prepare to reopen on July 1 after the summer break, the District Education Officer (DEO), Ravinder Kaur, has issued a directive to all school heads to welcome students back with a ‘Fun Day’ to make their return cheerful and stress-free.
In a circular sent to government and aided schools, the DEO emphasised the importance of easing students into the academic routine by creating a warm and engaging environment on the first day. The idea, she said, is to reduce post-vacation anxiety and help students reconnect with their peers and teachers in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
Schools have been asked to organise activities such as welcome assemblies, motivational talks, cultural programmes, storytelling sessions and classroom decoration to create a festive atmosphere. Games, drawing competitions and sports activities will also be part of the day’s agenda, aimed at boosting student morale and setting a positive tone for the new academic session.
“This small initiative can have a big emotional impact,” said DEO Ravinder Kaur. “It sets the tone for a positive and productive school year. A smile on the first day matters more than a test or lecture.”
The directive has been widely appreciated by teachers and parents, who believe that such a welcoming gesture will help children transition smoothly from holiday mode to classroom learning. The Education Department hopes this initiative will foster a student-friendly atmosphere.
Ravinder Kaur, has instructed all school heads to ensure thorough cleaning and maintenance of classrooms and premises before students return.
