The Congress targeted yet another foreign tour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, accusing him of "running away" from key issues in the country. Touted to be his longest diplomatic trip in a decade, Modi will embark on a five-nation tour on Wednesday.

Targeting Modi, Congress secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh took a jibe at Modi and said, "The Super Premium Frequent Flier PM is off on a five-nation, eight-day jaunt." In a post on X, Ramesh charged the prime minister was running away from at least four issues agitating the nation.

Targeting Modi over the unrest in Manipur, Ramesh said the prime minister has not visited Manipur yet, "ever since the double engine in the state got derailed and ever since normal life in the state has got totally destroyed." The Congress leader charged Modi is yet to react to recent revelations by defence officials on Operation Sindoor and US President Donald Trump's claims of "stopping" the India-Pak conflict by "using the trade deal as a carrot and stick."

Ramesh charged the Centre has failed to bring perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack to justice. "The continued failure to bring the Pahalgam terrorists to justice even after 70 days. The failure is all the more glaring given they may have been earlier involved in terror attacks in Poonch (Dec 2023) and Gagangir & Gulmarg (Oct 2024)," the Congress leader tweeted.

Modi's five-nation tour will focus on South American, Caribbean and African countries. Between July 2 and July 9, Modi will visit Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia. Modi will attend the BRICS Summit in Brazil.
