This country wants to buy weapon that brought Pakistan on its knees during Operation Sindoor, the weapon is…, country is…

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, from July 5 to 8, 2025, to take part in the 17th BRICS Summit. Ahead of his visit, Brazil has shown interest in buying India’s Akash Air Defence System. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that defence cooperation will be a key topic during talks with Brazil.

World saw the power of Akash during Operation Sindoor

India’s Akash Air Defence System proved its strength during Operation Sindoor. At that time, Pakistan tried to attack Indian military bases using drones made in China and Turkey. But Akash stopped them all by shooting the drones down mid-air before they could cause any damage. This “Made in India” system impressed many around the world.

Brazil wants to build it with India

India’s Foreign Secretary P. Kumaran confirmed that Brazil is not only interested in buying the Akash system, but also wants to co-produce it with India.

Top military officials from Brazil have already visited India and watched a live demonstration of the Akash system in action. They were also impressed by other Indian-made defence equipment.

According to Kumaran, Brazil is also showing interest in:

  • India’s communication systems
  • Patrol ships
  • Scorpene submarines
  • Coastal surveillance systems
  • And the Garud artillery guns

This growing interest marks a new chapter in India-Brazil defence relations, with Akash leading the way.

India Supplying Security Equipment to Brazil

India is steadily expanding its defence partnership with Brazil. Indian companies like MKU and SMPP are already supplying bulletproof jackets and other security gear to Brazilian forces.

The cooperation goes beyond defence gear — India and Brazil are also working together on the G20 Satellite Mission, showing how both nations are collaborating in space and technology too.

Interestingly, it’s a two-way partnership. Brazilian defence giants like Taurus Armas and CBC (Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos) are now investing in India and increasing weapon production here. This growing relationship is helping both countries strengthen their defence industries.

PM Modi’s 4th Visit to Brazil for BRICS Summit

At the summit, PM Modi will join other world leaders to discuss several important global issues, including:

  • Reforms in global governance
  • Peace and international security
  • Strengthening multilateral cooperation
  • Responsible use of Artificial Intelligence
  • Climate action and sustainability
  • Global health initiatives
  • Economic and financial matters

This visit is expected to boost India’s global outreach and strengthen its partnership with Brazil, both in defence and broader international cooperation.
