Bad news for Virat Kohli and RCB as CAT find this as main reason behind Chinnaswamy Stampede

New Delhi: On June 4, a large number of people gathered outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to celebrate the victory of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after winning the IPL 2025. The team had announced a victory parade and fan engagement program on social media, due to which about 2.5 lakh people gathered around MG Road and Cubbon Road. 11 people lost their lives in the stampede during this time.

Did RCB take prior permission from the police?

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) said in its hearing that RCB had not taken any prior permission from the police for this program. CAT said, “RCB suddenly posted on social media and gave information, due to which thousands of people gathered.”

Did the police get time to prepare?

According to CAT, the police did not get enough time to control such a large crowd. Due to the information of the program being received on the morning of June 4, the police arrangements could not be done on time. The tribunal said, “Policemen are also human beings. They are neither God, nor do they have Aladdin’s lamp that can do everything in a moment.”

What is RCB’s side?

There has been no official response from the RCB management in this matter. The team had announced the parade and fan program on its social media handles in the morning, but according to the tribunal, it was impossible for the police to make proper arrangements in such a short time.

Has RCB been blamed?

CAT said that “prima facie” it appears that RCB is responsible for this accident. They called such a large public gathering without permission, which led to a stampede-like situation. The tribunal has considered this type of negligence serious.

Will any further action be taken?

Now further investigation and action is likely in this matter. If RCB’s responsibility is proved, legal action may also be possible. At present, this remains an important issue regarding the victim families and the security system of the city.
