115 new posts sanctioned for Sector 32 hospital

The Centre has approved the creation of 115 new posts at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh. A formal approval to this effect was granted by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, Government of India, today. The GMCH had proposed 470 posts.

The newly sanctioned posts span across the nursing, ministerial, and technical cadres and are expected to strengthen the hospital’s human resource capacity. The move comes in response to a long-pending demand from the GMCH to address staff shortage and improve the quality of patient care.

Welcoming the decision, a senior GMCH official said the increased manpower will allow for more efficient service delivery and better support for the hospital’s expanding patient load. The hospital, which caters to thousands of patients from across the region daily, has been under pressure to upgrade staffing levels in line with its growing responsibilities. The sanctioned posts are expected to be filled in a phased manner, following due recruitment procedures.
