Libraries to be established across Karnal under unified model: DC

Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh and Superintendent of Police Ganga Ram Punia visited Panjokhra village of Indri block on Monday evening as part of the ongoing night stay programme initiated by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. During the visit, DC Singh announced that libraries across villages of the district will soon be established under a unified model, with Panjokhra village selected for the first library under this initiative.

Addressing villagers during the night halt, the DC said, “Villages with adequate gram panchayat funds will be considered for setting up libraries. A unified model is being designed for the entire district to ensure uniformity in infrastructure and services. Once finalised, Panjokhra will be the first to benefit from the initiative.”

The DC and SP, accompanied by ADC Sonu Bhatt, and SDM Ashok Munjal, listened to various grievances raised by villagers. Many issues were resolved on the spot, while others were directed to departments concerned for immediate action.

Sarpanch Deepak Kumar welcomed the official. Key issues raised by the villagers included construction of roads and drains, upgrading the primary school, waterlogging in streets, and the demand for a gym, sports stadium and a health centre in the village.

The DC assured the villagers that the school upgrade would be considered as per norms, and directed the BDPO to examine the feasibility of establishing a gym. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and encouraged the students to focus on academics and prepare for competitive examinations. “A drug-free village is the foundation of a progressive future,” said DC Singh. “We must ensure that the coming generations grow up in a healthy and educated environment.”

SP Punia also appealed to people to stay away from drugs and share information of persons selling or consuming drugs.
