Business Boost: IndiGo launches flight on Adampur-Mumbai route from today

Coming as a big development for Doaba residents, the first flight from Adampur for Mumbai shall take off from here tomorrow afternoon. The take off shall be a simple event without any political drama.

Leaders from various political parties, who are otherwise known to hog limelight for every small work, are not expected to be at the Adampur Civil Airport during the take off. IndiGo shall offer the services between Adampur and Mumbai from July 2. The Airbus A320 aircraft, with a seating capacity of 180, shall ferry passengers to the country’s business capital.

The company had started online booking for the flight from May last week with introductory base price of the ticket kept for Adampur-Mumbai flight at Rs 5,660 and return journey for Rs 5,571.

Tomorrow, the first flight will take off from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 12:55 pm and reach Adampur at 3:15 pm. After a 35-minute halt at Adampur, it will take off from here at 3:50 pm and reach Mumbai at 6:30 pm. The flight duration will be 2:20 hours on the Mumbai-Adampur sector and 2:40 hours for the Adampur-Mumbai sector.

Businessmen from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and Kapurthala and the neighbouring districts in Himachal are upbeat over the addition of the new facility. Star Air flights have already been running on the Adampur-Hindon-Nanded-Bengaluru sector for almost a year. Mumbai shall be the second destination from Adampur.

Reacting to the development, Adampur Congress MLA Sukhwinder Kotli said, “The move shall benefit the business community from Doaba".

AAP Adampur halqa incharge Pawan Tinu, said, “The addition of a new destination from Adampur is a welcome move. We are working on the pending flyover project and today held a meeting too in this connection." Tinu took a jibe against Jalandhar MP for ‘wrongly’ taking credit for the addition of the new flight.
