Councillors raise civic issues with Mayor

Councillors of the Jalandhar Cantt constituency met Mayor Vaneet Dhir and Aam Aadmi Party’s halqa incharge Rajwinder Kaur Thiara to discuss pressing civic issues, affecting their wards. The meeting, held at the Municipal Corporation office, was also attended by the Commissioner Gautam Jain and Joint Commissioner.

The councillors brought several urgent matters to the forefront, with a particular focus on persistent sewerage problems. Many councillors expressed concern over the sewerage problems that have been troubling residents, especially during the monsoon season. B&R and O&M department officials were also present at the meeting.

The demand for additional machinery to tackle the sewerage situation was also raised. The councillors urged the civic body to provide adequate equipment to carry out regular maintenance and timely desilting of the sewer system to avoid further deterioration.

Cleanliness and sanitation were other key issues highlighted during the discussion. Residents reported that garbage collection remains irregular in several wards and public areas are not being cleaned frequently.

“Mayor Vaneet Dhir and others listened to our issues. The issues would be addressed on priority," one of the councillors said.
