GADVASU interns seek hike in stipend
Internship students of Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) at the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University have demanded an increase in their stipend. They alleged that at present, they are getting only Rs 15,000 per month stipend, which is low as compared to veterinary universities of Haryana, Rajasthan and Varanasi.
They alleged that “academic fees of our university was also significantly higher than that these universities and the same is increased every year.”
The students said they had a meeting with AAP leader Atishi, former CM, Delhi), Anurag Kundu, member, Punjab Development Commission, and submitted demand letter to them in this regard.
“We also had meetings with Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences, Ludhiana, and Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU, regarding the same.
“We work tirelessly for 24 hours during our duties and treat animals with utmost compassion. But the low amount of stipend offered to us feels unjust for the services we provide. We request the authorities concerned to increase the current stipend structure as soon as possible,” they stated in a statement issued on Tuesday.
