Amarnath Yatra 2025 Begins As J&K L-G Flags Off First Batch Of Pilgrims

Amarnath Yatra 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims for the Amarnath Yatra 2025 from Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp on Wednesday morning.

He wished the pilgrims a safe and comfortable journey to and a "deeply soul-stirring" experience in the "abode of Lord Shiva".

"Prayed to Baba Amarnath for peace & blessings to all."

The perilous pilgrimage comes a little over two months after the dastardly terrorist attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed by the terrorists in a case of targeted attack in the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam.

On Tuesday, Sinha said the eyes of the world are on this Amarnath Yatra and added that no threats can deter the spirit of people undertaking the pilgrimage to the cave shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas.

He attended the 'Tawi Arti' at the Tawi Riverfront in Jammu and asserted that this year's Amarnath Yatra will be even more historic than the previous ones. Adding a personal note, Sinha said this year's pipilgrimageill be special for him as it was an opportunity to restore the ancient glory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The L-G reiterated an unwavering commitment to the inclusive development of the Union Territory and the revival of the region's rich cultural and spiritual legacy.

"For me, the responsibility of Jammu and Kashmir is not just an administrative assignment. It is an opportunity to restore the ancient glory of Jammu and Kashmir, an opportunity to rebuild it.

"I have tried to recreate the grandeur of Jammu and Kashmir, like that of a sacred temple. I have tried to restore the lost image of this holy land," he said.
